Does Dr. Scott perform surgery using the Robot?

No. And here's why: Research now shows that there is no significant advantage to performing robotic surgery on GYN patients with benign disease such as fibroid tumors or abnormal bleeding. Compared to transvaginal ("no incision") hysterectomy or laparoscopic hysterectomy, the robot does not lessen complications, does not decrease postoperative pain, does not reduce infection and does not shorten recovery time. Most importantly, robotic hysterectomy has a higher complication rate than transvaginal hysterectomy.

The American Congress of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ACOG) and the Society of Gynecologic Surgeons (SGS) agree that Robotic surgery for benign gynecologic conditions offers no clear advantage in how well patients do after surgery.

Until the robot is shown to offer a clear advantage to his patients, Dr. Scott will continue to use established techniques for pelvic surgery and hysterectomy.  We encourage you to visit us to discuss all surgical options available to you.
